Miami Valley Ohio Prime Timers’ 2nd Annual Pig Roast, August 19, 2012, was a roaring success far exceeding our initial event last year. 120 gay and bisexual men filled the Dayton, Ohio; Metro Park reserved shelter and surrounding green areas to enjoy games, food, drinks, and conversation. We dispensed with the regular formal meeting and went right to the fellowship.

For the month of December, LGBT filmmaker Stu Maddux is presenting free home streaming of three documentary films, including Gen Silent, which was mentioned in last month’s PPT newsletter. Home streaming is a convenient way to enjoy movies without having to rent or buy a DVD. Using an internet connection, the video is streamed while you watch it and the full movie file isn’t saved onto your computer. In addition to Gen Silent, the films Bob & Jack’s 52-Year Adventure and Trip To Hell And Back are also featured.

Hamilton (Ontario) Prime Timers September First Friday Dining Out at Bedrock Bistro was a great success! Almost 50 men gathered to enjoy one another’s company and the food of Bedrock Bistro. The Tri-State Prime Timers (TSPT) celebrated their 15th Anniversary in October. The anniversary meeting was held at the farm of two founding members Larry Kees and Dave Schaffer. Around 100 people attended, and TSPT is particularly thankful to the members from the Miami Valley Prime Timers of Ohio, Columbus of Ohio Prime Timers, and Louisville Prime Timers who came and joined in the celebration.

Over the thirteen year life of Prime Timers Minneapolis and St. Paul many men have given of their time, talent and resources. Some of our men have gone for the gold and achieved amazing things on behalf of all Prime Timers Minneapolis/St. Paul members. These members are incredible in all they do. If you are a member who wonders why certain men have been awarded The Life Time Achievement Award allow me to shed some light on this matter.

Mayor White signed a Gay Pride proclamation in June, and presented it at the Upstate Pride festival on June 19. In a column published in June, he said:

"The time for just accepting the way things are is over. We have laws that protect against racial discrimination, and it's time to protect those of different sexual orientations. No one should be discriminated against for whom they love, for wanting to walk down the street holding hands, or for sharing things a free American should have the right to share...
