During the weekend of April 20th, the Charlotte Prime Timers celebrated the 25th anniversary of their founding. Before the weekend, the Charlotte board members hosted Jack Nimmo, president of Prime Timers Worldwide with a dinner at 300 East Restaurant on Thursday evening, April 19. On Friday evening, approximately 20 Prime Timers met at Sidelines Sports Bar and Billiards on South Boulevard for an evening of fun and the opportunity to meet Jack.

The major event of the weekend was the Anniversary Gala which was held at SMS Catering Services, Inc., and attended by 104 Prime Timers, entertainers, and guests. The dining hall was beautifully decorated with red checkered tablecloths, bandana placemats, and lantern centerpieces. The theme of the gala was country-western, and many attendees wore their finest cowboy attire. After a social hour, Frank Kalian, President of Prime Timers of Charlotte welcomed the group and read a proclamation from Mayor Vi Lyles. Bill Starnes, a charter member, made a few remarks praising the growth of the chapter. Homer Gaddis, another charter member, was also in attendance. Following the introductory speeches, the crowd enjoyed a delicious barbecue buffet, and then Lana Kane, the host for the evening performed a musical number and introduced the keynote speaker, Jack Nimmo. After Jack's remarks, Lana did drawings of wonderful door prizes including wine, gift certificates, and gift baskets. The two top door prize drawings were a top-of-the line vacuum cleaner and a 42" television.

Two performing groups provided entertainment for the evening: 7th Son, an ensemble of the Gay Men's Chorus of Charlotte and the Charlotte Pride Band Brass Quintet.

The finale of the evening was the serving of the Anniversary cake.

The weekend festivities concluded with a complimentary dinner on Sunday evening at the Woodshed Bar and Lounge with over 30 Prime Timers attending.
